JAMES (JIM) SHILSTONE SR., chairman of the Shilstone Companies Inc. and one of only about 15 Honorary Life Members of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA), has received the association's highest award, the 2009 Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award. This award recognizes individuals and companies, as well as other organizations, for unparalleled commitment, dedication, participation, and leadership in the concrete pavement community. His son, James Jr., accepted the award for his father.
DANIEL HARRINGTON became chief executive officer of Lehigh Hanson Jan. 1, replacing JAMES KITZMILLER, who retired after nearly 40 years with the company and predecessor operations. In his career, Harrington served as COO and president of Lehigh Hanson South, which along with North, West and Canada regions, plus Hanson Building Products, was formed with the 2007 merger of Lehigh Portland Cement Co. and Hanson Building Materials America.
Holcim U.S. Chief Executive Officer BERNARD TERVER will gain additional responsibilities for sister business, Aggregate Industries U.S., following the March 2010 retirement of BILL BOLSOVER as CEO of Aggregate Industries Ltd., spanning United States and United Kingdom concrete and aggregate operations. In addition to his dual CEO role for Holcim U.S. and Aggregate Industries U.S., which remain separate operational companies, Terver will be appointed Holcim Ltd. area manager and senior management team member and chairman of the Aggregate Industries U.S. board. Bolsover will become chairman of Aggregate Industries U.K. board.
